Amidst the war against Hamas, Israel fears that the International Criminal Court (ICC) may issue an arrest warrant against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to the Times of Israel, arrest warrants may also be issued against several Israeli politicians and military leaders on charges of breaking international laws in Gaza.
In fact, according to a report, Israel had received information from sources that the ICC is considering issuing a warrant in the coming time. After this, many experts also held an emergency meeting on this issue in Netanyahu's office. During this time, ways to defer the warrant were discussed.
Israel will take help from other countries to avoid arrest warrant
According to Israel's Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Katz, Justice Minister Yariv Levin and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermir attended this meeting. It was agreed in the meeting that Israel would contact the ICC and other diplomatic officials to postpone the arrest warrant.
Apart from this, PM Netanyahu had also sought help from the Foreign Ministers of Britain and Germany in this matter. According to the Times of Israel, Netanyahu's ministers fear that this warrant may be issued in view of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
ICC can also file a case against Hamas
Earlier in February, some Israelis who were released from Hamas captivity had complained to the ICC about Hamas' war crimes. He accused Hamas of kidnapping, torture and physical violence.
Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, visited Israel in December last year. During this time he also went to those areas where Hamas had attacked. At the end of the tour, Karim Khan had said that there is evidence of Hamas's cruelty in Israel. Now it is their duty to initiate action against Hamas.
