Gold is a precious metal because of its rare presence on the EARTH and also the cost of the production of the gold is very high, The majority of gold consumed each year comes from the jewellery trade.

-Ancient Egyptians is the first civilization who discover gold They mined gold in Nubia around 2450 BC. Zosimos was the first Egyptian alchemist to find pure gold (24 centuries before Columbus reached the Americas).

Gold is element 79 and its symbol is Au. Though the name is Anglo Saxon, gold originated from the Latin Aurum, or shining dawn, and previously from the Greek.
